This past weekend, we were invited* to come and see School of Rock the Musical performed at the Hale Centre Theatre in Sandy, Utah. This was a favorite of mine when I saw it on Broadway, so I was excited to see it again.
The musical follows Dewey Finn, a lackadaisical wanna-be rockstar, who just can’t get his break…that is until he pretends to be his roommate and begins substituting at an exclusive straight laced prep school. He unearths some extreme talent within the classroom walls and quickly devises a plan to achieve his dreams with the help of his unsuspecting students.
What is fun about this musical is that it is lively and performed by local children. How often do you get to see the musical talents of kids you could know and love on stage? It’s definitely a fun way to introduce your family to musicals. It’s got high energy and a great storyline.
Hale Centre Theatre did a great job with the show. The beauty of seeing a show at this theater is that it is intimate and there isn’t a bad seat in the house. It’s a fantastic venue! I love the creativity of the sets and ease of changing from one scene to the next. I loved the ending and know that your family will thoroughly enjoy it and the talents on display.
You can go see School of Rock for yourself at the Hale Centre Theatre. To purchase tickets, or learn more about the show, visit them online. The show is selling out quickly, but there are still great seats available for many shows. School of Rock is playing now through May 28th, 2022.
