Last night, we got to enjoy a very fun summer kickoff at Sandy Amphitheater. This was our first time there and we were not disappointed. We found ourselves enjoying the warm summer evening with a couple thousand like-minded ABBA fans, as Direct from Sweden: The Music of ABBA entertained us from the stage.

With over a million tickets sold, the musicians in “The music of ABBA” are no strangers to the incomparable sound and look of Sweden’s greatest music export! The band consist of several handpicked members from some of the greatest ABBA tribute acts.

With meticulous attention to costumes, make-up, musical arrangements, movements and the singing, nothing is left to chance. Adding a few of Abba’s live traits such as great solos, musical numbers and a complete live band with back-up singers, ensures an extra dimension unheard of in most similar productions.

Dance, sing along and enjoy the hits such as Dancing Queen, Chiquitita, Waterloo, Mamma Mia, The Winner Takes it All, Fernando, SOS, Take a Chance, Money Money Money, Knowing Me Knowing You, Super Trouper, Gimme Gimme Gimme, Voulez-Vous and many more and maybe discover some new favorites!

Direct from Sweden The Music of ABBA will deliver the closest ABBA experience you’ll ever get with some of Sweden’s most experienced and talented singers and musicians playing 100% live. The audience will be on their feet the entire show!!

The show was a blast! People of all ages were together, thoroughly enjoying the evening and spectacular music. The group really was impressive in their vocals–it felt as if you were with the real ABBA. It was a clean, light-hearted performance that got everyone on their feet singing and dancing. A perfect way to spend a summer evening with friends and family!

Like I mentioned, this was my first experience at a concert at the Sandy Amphitheater, but will certainly not be my last. The venue was very easy to get to and very accommodating to guests. I don’t personally enjoy sitting on the grass for concerts anymore (I guess I’m showing my age),so I particularly appreciate that there are dedicated seats to take in a show from. There are about 2000 seats like mine and all of which enjoy a fantastic view of the stage. For those that do love sitting on the grass, there are 700 dedicated spots for you to do so. Bring a blanket or low chair and it’s a great way to take in a summer concert. There are lots of factors that make going to Sandy Amphitheater really enjoyable. Seating is great, location is wonderful, parking is free, and their outside food policy is very generous. But, if you want to get food at the venue, there is plenty to choose from there, as well. The entire experience makes one feel at home and at ease. It also doesn’t hurt that the setting is really quite stunning. It was fun to begin the concert while the sun was still up and warm on your skin, but then as the evening progressed, to see the sun setting, as well. I love that in a smaller town, there are some big names to see! Take a look at their summer concert line up and you will be impressed. Apparently, people come from all over the country to see concerts at this venue!

80’s fanatics will love upcoming concerts with Love and Rockets, Air Supply, and Lost 80’s Live. There is a wide range of entertainment appearing here including Melanie Martinez, Dwight Yoakam & Emmylou Harris, Peter Frampton, and the Goo Goo Dolls, just to name a few. Interspersed are some free shows and shows with a family focus. There’s really something for everyone here! I can’t think of a better way to kick off my summer than dancing to ABBA and I’m so excited to go and hope I’ll see you there!

While it’s early and before other shows sell out, be sure to visit their website and peruse the rest of the summer line up and plan some fun date nights and family outings!
