One of my favorite fall activities when I lived on the East Coast was taking my kids to New York Comic Con each October. We had so much fun seeing all the great pop culture, latest news and releases, panels, celebrities, and, of course, all the Cosplay. It was always so much fun for my kids to get dressed up and just enjoy the weekend with everyone else that was super excited to be there. I was sad to leave that behind because we always had so much fun. Little did I know at the time that Salt Lake City had its own event that was growing and evolving. Fan X is the ultimate destination for pop culture fanatics of all ages and this year, it is celebrating 10 years! I’ve gotten to go the last couple of years and it is so much fun!

If you caught the article we featured earlier in the month, you would know that I could not wait to get myself to FanX this year to see all things Back to the Future related. I clearly was not the only one because there were tons of Doc Browns and Marty McFlys (both from the future and back) wandering around the vendor floors.

Going to Fan X is so much fun for all the people watching. There are so many creative people that put their heart and souls into making the perfect cosplay costume dedicated to favorite movies, shows, and characters. You can see in all the details just how much time and devotion goes into making a costume to put on display during the convention.
I can’t decide what I enjoy more, watching the creativity of all the attendees, seeing celebrities or going to panels to learn more about everything. It might just be divided equally, actually, because it is all so much fun.
This year, I loved seeing actors from Back to the Future, Scream, Saved by the Bell, Cobra Kai, and so many others. I was thinking as I was walking around the Salt Palace about when I was a kid and loved a movie or actor, it was so unattainable to meet them or get more information about them, other than from teeny bopper magazines. With events like FanX, it’s fun to get to see them up close and personal. I was really impressed with many of the actors that genuinely loved meeting and talking to their fans. Over the course of a couple of days, I saw many celebrities interacting with fans for hours on end, which had to be exhausting, but they looked so happy to be there. It was really cool, actually, to see them shake hands, listen to what they had to say, share hugs and pose with what seemed like a never ending line of fanatics.
Everywhere you looked throughout FanX were incredible costumes, so I have to share just a few with you.

Going to FanX is such a great experience for everyone. Go to see the celebrities, the creative costumes, the fanfare and the fun. You will love it!
So whether you went to FanX this year, or you missed out, you will not want to miss it next year! Follow them on their social media pages (instagram, X (previously Twitter), Facebook and YouTube) and sign up for the FanX newsletter so you know all the up to date announcements for next year’s convention. I can’t wait to go back and hope you will join me!
