The Blue Man Group revolutionized what percussionists and drummers could do in the entertainment industry with their signature creations, sounds, and humor.
In a similar fashion, STOMP takes the percussive arts into the realm of dance and acrobatics.

Hailing from Brighton, England this troupe dances, flips, pantomimes, and gyrates using a variety of objects over drumbeat backdrop.
Creativity was the defining trait of the show. Brooms, road signs, Zippo lighters, shopping carts, inner tubes, sand, rain barrels, newspapers, everything and (you guessed it) kitchen sinks. This made for fun sounds. They also improvised very well when the various objects broke, misfired, or went flying.
The added dance component provided visual engagement for what is primarily a sound medium. This made the performance more engaging than a traditional concert for those not savvy to whatever composer or artist is showcased. In other words, it is easier for anyone to enjoy without a breadth of knowledge on the music.

We found the interactions with the audience really impressive. More and more acts are realizing how much that engagement can take their show to the next level, as long as it does not stop the audience from experiencing the talent’s skills.
The show is great for all ages who can handle loud noise. Those with sensitive ears may want to bring some cotton balls or mild earplugs just to deaden the sound a bit.
There is still a chance for you to see STOMP at NJPAC–one more performance takes place this evening at 7:30pm, so grab tickets now! Keep your eye on the NJPAC for other creative artists and exciting performances at the forefront of entertainment.
