A Christmas classic, “The Little Drummer Boy” tells the story of a fictional individual who uses his talents to celebrate the birth of the Savior. While this holiday has come to define the word “commercialism”, the tradition of using one’s talents to craft gifts and decorations remains one way in which people celebrate their love and their God-given talents.
From little children’s homemade gifts for family members, to painstakingly detailed, time consuming gifts passed down through generations, Christmas is when we decorate our homes to remind ourselves this season is something special.

Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, the self-styled “Christmas City of America” hosts an open air market each December. Christkindlmarkt transports visitors from Pennsylvania to a German village filled with vendors hawking carefully crafted, handmade wares along side traditional Christmas decorations. For those artistic souls who create or appreciate crafts, this festival is a must see for ideas and decorations.

Food vendors provide sweet and savory options such as burgers and homemade fudge. We particularly loved the wood carvings, artwork, and candle shops. Ken from Little House Candle shop was particularly helpful and has an amazing following of customers who continue to come back year after year.
If you want to enjoy this adventure, it is open Friday and Saturday from 10-8 and Thursdays and Sundays from 10-6 during each Christmas season. This weekend marks the last weekend of Christkindlmarkt 2023, though, so purchase your tickets and visit while you can!
