I am a city girl and I love spending time in the city taking in all the sights. However, sometimes you can’t see the whole picture when you are there. That’s why I tend to love to go to a different viewpoint to see it all. Sometimes that vantage point comes from going to the top of skyscraper, a bridge, or sometimes, even crossing the river to see a different perspective.

Seeing New York City’s skyline never ceases to thrill me, especially at night. I was excited to find out that American Dream has something called the Dream Wheel by Skyviews that you can visit to see the city from New Jersey. As soon as I found out that was there now, we had to go visit to try it out for ourselves.

I also knew I wanted to see it at night, so after a day of fun and exploration at American Dream, we set off for our appointment at the Dream Wheel. It was very easy to locate the Dream Wheel from inside the mall and we found ourselves there in no time.

There are several different packages to choose from when experiencing the Dream Wheel. You can select general admission, Gold Class, or VIP. We opted for the Gold Class admission which gave us a private gondola for up to 8 people and free specialty beverages from the concession stand which you can take on your ride. The concession stand is very fun and there are lots of great options to choose from here. It definitely has a carnival vibe and we recommend visiting.

We grabbed our drinks and headed into our gondola. 

This climate- controlled gondola was extremely comfortable, despite the frigid temperatures outside. Inside the capsule was a TV that we could control that would play music for our listening pleasure. We opted for some Christmas tunes (Home Alone 2: Lost in New York seemed pretty appropriate) and sat back and enjoyed the ride as our gondola made its way to 300 feet in the sky.

Similar to other cities I’ve been to, such as the London Eye, this Ferris wheel-like ride lets you see enjoy the view from all sides on a very smooth course.You barely feel like you are moving but then you find yourself soaring over the city and you can see everything below you.

I loved being at this vantage point and the views from our carriage were absolutely stunning. Not only could we see spectacular views of New York City, we could also look over the spacious complex that is American Dream and see so many of the attractions located there–ice skating, water park, ski slopes, and more!

When we reached the top, there were great opportunities to grab some family photos with New York in the back ground.

While there are great photo ops on this ride, it’s also just great to put the phones away and take it all in on a very peaceful, relaxing ride with your family. We loved getting to check out Dream Wheel by Skyviews and would love to come back at another time of day, too. It was a great experience and one you should try when you are nearby.
