The Disney on Ice presentation of Frozen & Encanto was so spectacular! We were excited that two of our favorite shows were being featured in Disney on Ice! We start the show being welcomed by none other than Mickey Mouse and his crew including Minnie Mouse, Goofy and Donald Duck. They come out singing and skating to a welcome song that encourages the audience to use their imagination and imagine a winter wonderland. Just like that, you are transported to Arendelle.

Princess Anna skates onto the stage singing “For the First Time in Forever“. Elsa and the townspeople join her on stage as you are wowed with the skills of the skaters. The show goes on to tell the tale of the two Princess sisters, one who is lonely and wants to have a closer relationship with her sister and one who is afraid to be who she truly is. We can not have this story without our beloved Olaf, Kristoff and Sven. The story was ,of course, entertaining and you can’t help but be wowed by the beautiful sparkly costumes, exciting special effects such as Elsa’s magic projections and fireworks, and also the supporting skaters performance. Of course, the sisters are the heroes of their own story discovering that love is what can heal a frozen heart.

Next up was the Encanto portion of the show. I thought that Frozen would be a tough act to follow but I was wrong! To begin, they bring out the beautiful Casita in Encanto and Abuela takes the ice with the Miracle Candle. The whole Madrigal Family comes skating in and Mirabel introduces everyone and explains everyone’s unique gifts. Everyone except Mirabel has a special gift and she does her best to be helpful; however she sometimes feels as if she is in the way. Mirabel learns that the family is losing their magic, she sets out to find out why. She goes to her sister Luisa who tells her that she is struggling and sometimes feels weak. Luisa and her Donkeys perform “Surface Pressure ”. You will love how cute the donkeys are in this number. Mirabel then goes to her Tia and Tio to inquire about her Tio Bruno. Through song they tell her “We Don’t Talk About Bruno“. The entire family joins in on the number warning Mirabel. Well, Mirabel of course goes to find Bruno anyways.  When she finds him, he is reluctant to help but he too is concerned and wants to save the family’s miracle. Mirabel thinks that by trying to mend her relationship with her sister Isabella she can save the family but she finds that Isabella also struggles from the pressure of always having to be perfect. Together they skate and are lifted into the air as they perform the “What Else Can I Do“. Unfortunately even with all the effort from Mirabel the family does end up losing their miracle and the beautiful casita crumbles. Abuela then realises the miracle is not the gifts but the family. Each individual member is a miracle to be cherished. Both the miracle and the casita are restored and the family has a new understanding of love and appreciation for each other. This is a very heartwarming story and you can feel the heartfelt emotions.

Getting a taste of Disney close to home is so special. The show truly is magical and exactly what you would expect when going to see a Disney production. A truly good show is one that entertains children and adults alike and this one hits the mark. The show then comes to a close with special appearances from Belle, Ariel, Mulan and Jasmine; their Princes join them on the ice as they perform many lift stunts together. Then all the characters from the night come out for one more farewell number. We were entertained from beginning to end and absolutely recommend going to this show when you have the chance.
