The New Jersey Symphony & Danny DeVito Delight with Matilda in Concert

One of the great things about the NJ Symphony is that they travel. This evening they journeyed to the State Theater New Jersey in New Brunswick. This theater and the evening’s production of Matilda in Concert attracted New Jersey’s most supportive and enthusiastic audience.

Usually a standing ovation occurs after the show, but the show began with Danny DeVito coming out on stage and introducing members of the original Matilda movie cast. The audience went wild.

Then he introduced David Newman, the composer of Matilda, and this evening’s conductor. Again the audience went wild. Mr. DeVito began the movie and narrated live throughout the movie for a very special experience.

The symphony played the score with accuracy and a vigor which matched the excitement of the crowd. They have not sounded better, which may say more about the energy a crowd gives the performer than anything else.

The movie Matilda and its score provided an audience a wonderfully silly escape this evening from the stresses of their day to day. For more enjoyable escapes, check the upcoming shows at the State Theater of New Jersey and join in the fun. Be sure to check the upcoming events on the New Jersey Symphony’s calendar, too, which has other family-favorites, such as Star Wars: Return of the Jedi in Concert!
