Monster Jam at Rice-Eccles stadium is absolutely epic. It is one of our family’s favorite activities. There is nothing quite like the noise and thrill that Monster Jam brings wherever it goes. It’s especially impressive when the trucks have a football stadium to strut their stuff in.

As with most Monster Jam events, racing is the first competition. This round has trucks competing head to head. Winners moves on to the next heat until there is one racing championship for the night. The course they had setup was totally unique from the ones we had seen before. Bakugan Draganoid took the racing victory but it came down to the wire with Son-uva Digger.

The second event might be my favorite. It’s the two wheel challenge. Drivers attempt to balance their trucks on the from, rear or side wheels for as long as they can. They each get two chances and they seriously did not disappoint. Multiple trucks had one end up in the air for more than 15 seconds. No matter how many times you see it, it never fails to impress. Son-uva Digger got his vengeance after the racing loss and took the two wheel challenge victory with a crazy side wheel run.
The evenings final event was freestyle. Drivers have two minutes to pull all the tricks out of their bag. Some seem to have a plan and others clearly fly by the seat of their pants. The result is astounding! The height and distance these trucks reach is incredible. From backflips to barrel rolls to catching on fire, it is one heck of a show. Our kids stay tuned for the whole thing.
At the end of the competitions, Zombie took the overall event win. He put down a fantastic run in freestyle and came from way behind to snatch victory. There is one rule with Monster Jam, expect the unexpected. You’ll certainly see things you’ve never seen before so take the whole family and have a super fun night.

We love going to Monster Jam and so excited we got to spend the evening enjoying it as a family. We can’t wait for it to come back to Utah. Be sure to keep up to date with Monster Jam by visiting them online.
