For a movie lover like myself, attending The Princess Bride in Concert at Boettcher Concert Hall in Denver was nothing short of amazing. The combination of a beloved film and the magic of live music performed by the Colorado Symphony was an experience that left me in awe.

Walking into Boettcher Concert Hall for the first time, I was immediately struck by its architectural grandeur and welcoming ambiance. The unique design, with its circular seating arrangement and excellent sightlines, ensures that every seat in the house feels intimate and connected to the performance. As someone who loves experiencing new venues, Boettcher did not disappoint. The acoustics are phenomenal, allowing every note from the symphony to resonate beautifully throughout the hall.

As the lights dimmed and the iconic opening scenes of The Princess Bride began to play on the large screen, a wave of nostalgia washed over me. The Colorado Symphony’s live performance of Mark Knopfler’s enchanting score elevated the film to new heights. Every sword fight, every heartfelt moment between Westley and Buttercup, and every hilarious line from Inigo Montoya was accentuated by the lush, live orchestral accompaniment. The synergy between the visuals on the screen and the musicians’ impeccable timing created an immersive experience that was both thrilling and emotionally moving. It invoked feelings of the heart that only music can bring in smooth intensity.

One of the standout moments of the evening was the climactic battle scene. The orchestra’s intensity perfectly matched the on-screen action, making it feel like I was experiencing the film for the first time all over again. Hearing the famous lines, “Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die,” with the powerful, live score underscoring the moment gave me chills.
Another highlight was the collective experience shared with fellow fans. The laughter, the cheers, and even the gasps from the audience created a sense of community and shared love for this classic film. It was a reminder of the unique power of cinema and music to bring people together.
