Last night, I had the absolute pleasure of taking my family to see STOMP at the Pikes Peak Center, and let me tell you—it was quite the experience. From the first syncopated beats that filled the room, we were hooked. If you’ve never seen STOMP, here’s what you need to know: it’s a high-energy, heart-pounding celebration of rhythm and creativity.

The sheer talent on that stage was mind-blowing. The performers created music with literally anything they could get their hands on. Brooms, trash can lids, plastic bags, Zippo lighters, and even grocery carts transformed into musical instruments in their capable hands. And the sound they made wasn’t just noise; it was art. Each beat, tap, and clang came together in an intricate, perfectly choreographed symphony. It was impossible not to sit there wide-eyed, wondering, How do they do that?

Young kids were especially enthralled with the kitchen sink scene (yes, they actually used sinks as instruments). Who knew a little water and some rhythmic scrubbing could be so captivating? And while my kids were busy imagining how they could recreate this at home (please don’t, I beg you), I was marveling at the performers’ precision and energy. These artists are more than drummers—they’re magicians, dancers, and comedians all rolled into one.

One of the things I love most about STOMP is how universal it is. There’s no dialogue, no lyrics, no complicated plot to follow—just pure rhythm and physical storytelling. The youngest audiences members were completely captivated the entire time.

Looking around the audience, I could see families laughing together, teens engaged, and even grandparents clapping along. STOMP has this magical ability to bridge age gaps and bring everyone together through the universal language of rhythm.

Of course, part of what made the night so special was the venue itself. The Pikes Peak Center is one of our favorite places to catch a performance in Colorado Springs. The seats are comfortable, the acoustics are incredible, and there’s really not a bad view in the house. It’s the kind of place that elevates every performance, making you feel like you’re part of something truly special.

What I love most about the Pikes Peak Center, though, is how family-friendly it is. From the easy parking to the welcoming staff, everything about the experience is designed to make attending a show as stress-free as possible.

Part of the Broadway at the Pikes Peak Center season,  STOMP is in Colorado Springs January 6-7th, 2025, so don’t hesitate to grab your tickets while it is still in town. It’s an evening full of jaw-dropping talent, infectious energy, and creativity that will have your whole family talking long after the final applause.

And if you’ve never been to the Pikes Peak Center, now’s the time to change that. It’s one of the gems of our community, and there’s nothing quite like sharing the magic of live theater with your family in such an inviting space.

So grab your tickets, round up the kids, and prepare to be amazed. Because trust me—STOMP will make you see (and hear) the world in a whole new way.
