Hey, you guys! If you’re anything like me, The Goonies is a pivotal movie of the 80s and it’s a treasure trove of memories. I vividly recall huddling in front of the TV as a kid, popcorn in hand, and being transported to Astoria, Oregon, where a ragtag group of kids embarked on the adventure of a lifetime. It’s hard to believe, but this year marks the 40th anniversary of The Goonies!

Thanks to Fathom Events, we all get the chance to relive the magic of this iconic film on the BIG SCREEN. Yes, that’s right – The Goonies is coming back to theaters for a special two-day engagement on January 19 & 20, 2025.

For those who somehow missed this cultural touchstone (really?!), The Goonies is the ultimate adventure film for our generation. Directed by Richard Donner and produced by Steven Spielberg, it follows a group of kids known as “The Goonies” who discover a pirate’s treasure map in the attic of one of their homes. With their neighborhood at risk of foreclosure, they set out to find One-Eyed Willy’s long-lost fortune, hoping to save their families.

Of course, nothing is ever that easy. Along the way, they encounter booby traps, creepy caves, and a family of bumbling criminals – the infamous Fratellis – who are also after the treasure. It’s a wild, funny, and heartfelt journey that showcases the power of friendship, the thrill of adventure, and the enduring appeal of doing the truffle shuffle (don’t deny it – we all did it at least once).

Revisit this classic or introduce it to your own kids for the first time, but either way, there’s no better way to experience The Goonies than on the big screen with a bucket of popcorn and a theater full of fellow fans.
