One of the coolest parts of running The Mommy Avenger is that I get to try out tons of fun activities and share them with all of you. From local adventures to unique family outings, I’ve done a little bit of everything. And I’ll be honest—it takes a lot to impress me these days. Something really has to stand out from the crowd to make my “favorites” list.

Well, last night Game Show Battle Rooms in Murray, Utah catapulted straight to the top. And that’s saying a LOT.

This brand-new entertainment venue (we’re talking only three weeks old!) had been on my radar since I first heard about it. The idea of stepping into a real-life game show setting sounded almost too good to be true, so of course I had to book a time slot and find out for myself.

I have a big family—both immediate and extended—and when I realized they could accommodate a large group, I was sold. Sixteen of us piled into Game Show Battle Rooms, excited (and a little nervous) to see what this was all about. From the second we walked in, we were greeted by employees who were not only welcoming but downright charismatic. It felt like they were as excited for us to be there as we were to play, which set the tone for the entire night.

Now, I’ll admit something: I’m not really a “game person.” Board games, group games, anything that involves standing up in front of a crowd—I’m usually the one hanging in the back, quietly cheering everyone else on. So when I first agreed to go, part of me thought, Okay, I’ll do it for the blog, but this isn’t really my thing.

Spoiler alert: I could not have been more wrong.

We were divided into two teams (you can pick your own, but I highly recommend letting them divide you—it keeps things interesting!). Our host for the night, Quintin—who quickly became “Q” to us—walked us through the layout of the evening. We chose the Classic Games option, which includes a variety of mini-games with playful twists: Survey Battles, Spin and Solve, What’s the Cost, Cubby Price Match, Risky Biz Showcase, and The Drop.

If you grew up watching daytime TV game shows while home sick from school, these will feel both nostalgic and brand-new at the same time. The games are inspired by classics but reimagined in a way that makes them fresh, fast-paced, and ridiculously fun.

Once we were hyped up and ready, Q and the show’s producer, Wes, opened the doors, and suddenly—bam—we were inside what felt like an actual TV game show set. I don’t know what I was expecting, but the room blew me away. Lights, music, colorful game boards, witty commentary—it had everything but a live studio audience. Honestly, I forgot I was in Utah for a second and felt like I had stepped onto the set of a network game show.

And here’s the best part: from the moment the games started, all of my nerves melted away. Wes and Q had this magical ability to pull everyone in, even the shy ones, and make us feel completely comfortable. I wasn’t just playing games—I was fully in it to win it. That competitive streak I didn’t even know I had came roaring out, and I was having the time of my life.

It wasn’t just me, either. Every single person in our group—from the most outgoing family members to the quieter ones—got swept up in the fun. The games moved quickly, the energy stayed high, and before long, we were all laughing, cheering, and even losing our voices from shouting answers and celebrating wins.

There’s something really special about an experience that makes everyone forget about the outside world for a while. That’s exactly what happened here. For two hours, it was just us, the games, and pure joy. We discovered hidden talents (who knew my nephew was a natural at price guessing?), teased each other over funny wrong answers, and cheered like crazy for our teams. Time both flew by and stood still, which is the mark of a truly great experience.

One of my favorite parts? Watching how Q and Wes effortlessly balanced the group. Our family is a mix of introverts and extroverts, and I was worried some of us might fade into the background. Nope. Not here. They had a knack for drawing everyone in, making sure nobody felt left out, and keeping the energy light and fun. They were witty, engaging, and kept us laughing the entire time. Honestly, they deserve just as much credit as the games themselves for making the night unforgettable.

By the end, we were all buzzing with excitement. We were all already planning when to come back before we even left the parking lot. I know I’ll definitely be back—not just for another round of the Classic Games, but also to try the Primetime Showdowns, which are a whole different set of competitions. The cool thing is, they switch up the content every couple of months to keep things fresh, so it’s not the kind of place you only go to once. It’s the kind of place you keep coming back to.

As someone who gets to do a lot of fun things for this blog, I can confidently say this was one of the best group experiences I’ve had in a long time. It is worth every penny, and honestly, the value exceeded my expectations. The quality of the entertainment, the atmosphere, and the way they made us feel—it all added up to an unforgettable night.

So who should go to Game Show Battle Rooms? In my opinion—everyone. Family nights, family reunions, birthday parties, anniversaries, celebrating a new job, or just celebrating the fact that it’s the weekend—this is perfect. Even for work groups, it would make for an incredible team-building activity. The energy, laughter, and shared memories are priceless.

As we walked out, my mind was already racing with ideas of who I wanted to bring next: friends, coworkers, more family. I just want everyone I know to experience how fun it was. That, right there, is how you know something truly stood out.

So take it from me: don’t hesitate. Book your group session. Whether you’re a game-show fanatic or someone who doesn’t normally like games (hi, that was me), Game Show Battle Rooms Salt Lake City will win you over. It’s brand-new, it’s exciting, and it’s the kind of entertainment we’ve been needing here. Trust me—you’ll walk out smiling, laughing, and already planning your return.

I can’t wait to go back.
