If you’ve been following me for a while, you already know that Little Shop of Horrors holds a special place in my heart. There’s just something about this quirky, hilarious, and slightly creepy musical that I absolutely adore. So, getting to see it again at the iconic Westside Theatre in Manhattan — felt like a true theater treat!

The Westside Theatre is one of those hidden NYC gems that makes you fall in love with live performance all over again. It’s small, intimate, and charming in all the best ways. There isn’t a bad seat in the house — seriously. No matter where you sit, you’re close enough to see every expression, every dance move, and every bit of comedic timing up close. You feel in the show, not just watching it. That level of connection makes for such a special experience.

We actually saw Little Shop of Horrors a couple of years ago and fell completely in love with the production, so I was beyond excited to revisit it. One of the coolest things about this show is the rotating cast of guest performers who take on the lead roles of Seymour and Audrey. It keeps the production fresh and gives fans a fun reason to come back again and again.

This time around, we were lucky enough to catch Madeline Brewer (from The Handmaid’s Tale) as Audrey and Teddy Yudain as Seymour. And wow — they were both fantastic! Teddy brought this perfect mix of awkward sweetness and charm to Seymour, and Madeline was absolutely magnetic as Audrey. Her performance was fun, heartfelt, and full of personality — not to mention, her voice blew us away. It was powerful, emotional, and perfectly suited to the part. You could feel the audience fall in love with her right along with Seymour.

For anyone unfamiliar, Little Shop of Horrors tells the story of Seymour, a shy, nerdy florist who discovers a strange and mysterious plant that just happens to have a taste for blood. As the plant grows, so does Seymour’s fame — and his trouble. The story mixes humor, heart, and a little bit of horror, all wrapped up in catchy songs and over-the-top fun. It’s campy in the best possible way and full of those “did that really just happen?” moments that make live theater so unforgettable.

And let’s be honest — there’s no better time of year to see Little Shop of Horrors than right now. This show is the perfect Halloween-season pick. It’s got just enough spooky vibes to fit the mood, but it’s still fun, upbeat, and laugh-out-loud entertaining. The mix of horror, humor, and toe-tapping songs makes it a total October mood-setter. Instead of another haunted house or scary movie marathon, why not let a man-eating plant named Audrey II get you in the spirit?

Every time I see Little Shop, I’m reminded why I love it so much. It’s funny, creative, and endlessly entertaining. You can’t help but leave the theater humming “Suddenly, Seymour” for days afterward — and maybe looking a little suspiciously at your houseplants.

If you find yourself in New York City this fall, I can’t recommend Little Shop of Horrors enough. Whether you’re a lifelong theater fan or just looking for a fun, spooky night out, this show is a total win. The energy, the talent, the music — it’s pure joy from start to finish.
