If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to watch an arena literally shake with excitement, let me introduce you to Monster Jam.
We just took our kids to Monster Jam in Salt Lake City, and I can honestly say it was an absolute blast from start to finish. The kind of outing that has everyone buzzing the whole drive home and retelling their favorite moments for days. You know those events where you’re not checking your watch once? This was that.
What is Monster Jam, really?
Monster Jam is a live motorsports event where massive, custom-built monster trucks compete in high-energy races, freestyle competitions, and jaw-dropping stunts. These trucks are huge. Think 12 feet tall, 10,000 pounds, and powered by engines so loud you feel them in your chest. Add in skilled drivers, dirt ramps, crushed cars, and a stadium full of cheering fans, and you’ve got an experience that feels larger than life.

And it’s not just trucks. Monster Jam mixes things up with motocross stunt shows, which turned out to be one of our kids’ favorite parts of the night.
Our Monster Jam experience in Salt Lake City
The energy in the stadium was electric the moment the trucks roared to life. The kids were hooked instantly. The noise truly shakes the stadium, and you can feel the excitement ripple through the crowd.
One of the biggest highlights was the racing showdown where Monster Mutt Dalmatian beat Grave Digger. If you know, you know. The cheers were everywhere, and it set the tone for an exciting night. Even if you don’t walk in with a favorite truck, you’ll leave with one.
Then came the halftime motocross show, which completely stole the show for us. Watching the riders soar through the air with huge jumps and flawless tricks had everyone on the edge of their seats. One rider pulled off a massive tail whip and ended up flying straight into the safety padding. It was wild. The dirt bike stunt show is the perfect break from the truck action and really shows how much skill and courage goes into these performances.
That mix of monster trucks and motocross kept the kids engaged the entire time. There was never a dull moment or a “how much longer?” which, as parents, we know is the real win.
By the end of the night, Monster Mutt Dalmatian took the overall win, and it felt like the perfect ending to an already unforgettable experience.
When and where is Monster Jam in Salt Lake City?
Monster Jam is happening in Salt Lake City this weekend, January 2–4, 2026, at the Delta Center. It’s a great venue for this kind of event, with plenty of space to see the action and feel fully immersed in the experience.
How to get tickets
Tickets are available through the official Monster Jam website, and you can find all the event details and showtimes here.
If you’re planning to go with kids, I recommend grabbing tickets sooner rather than later. This is one of those events that families flock to, and for good reason.

One important tip for parents
Bring ear protection. Seriously. Especially for little ones. The engines are powerful, and the noise is intense. With ear protection, everyone can relax and focus on enjoying every moment instead of covering their ears.
Monster Jam is loud, thrilling, and full of excitement. It’s the kind of family experience that feels special, the kind your kids will remember long after the weekend is over. If you’re looking for something different to do in Salt Lake City this weekend, this one absolutely delivers.
