I don’t know who needs to hear this, but Salt Lake City is absolutely showing off right now.

Broadway at the Eccles just announced the 2026/2027 season, and it’s one of those lineups that makes you stop scrolling, re-read the list, and then immediately start mentally rearranging your calendar. This season is stacked. New premieres. Big Tony winners. Beloved classics. Shows I’ve been dying to see. Shows my kids already think they’re coming to whether I’ve agreed or not.

We’re talking eight mainstage productions, including six Salt Lake City premieres, plus two add-on shows that are basically must-sees. If you love live theater even a little, this season feels like a gift.

Here’s what’s coming—and why we’re already excited about every single one.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

September 19 – October 11, 2026

This is how the season opens, and honestly, what a way to start.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child isn’t just a play. It’s an event. A full-blown theatrical experience with mind-bending stage magic, time travel, and the kind of “HOW did they do that?” moments people talk about for years afterward.

The story follows Harry’s son, Albus, and his unexpected friendship with Draco Malfoy’s son. Things spiral. Time gets messy. The past and future collide. Even if you’re not a die-hard Potter fan, the spectacle alone makes this one worth it.

We’re already planning to see this one early, because I know people will be buzzing about it nonstop.

The Outsiders

November 10–15, 2026

If you read The Outsiders in school and still remember how it made you feel, this one hits hard.

The Tony Award–winning musical adaptation brings Ponyboy, Johnny, and the Greasers to life with raw emotion, a powerful score, and a story that still feels painfully relevant. It’s about belonging, loyalty, and trying to find your place in a world that’s already decided who you are.

This is the kind of show I love seeing with older kids or teens. It opens conversations. It sticks with you. And it reminds you there really is “still lots of good in the world.”

Disney’s Beauty and the Beast

December 8–19, 2026

Just in time for the holidays, we’re getting Beauty and the Beast, and I’m already emotional about it.

This is Disney’s first North American tour of the show in over 25 years, and it’s coming with new sets, stunning costumes, and all the music we know by heart. “Be Our Guest.” “Beauty and the Beast.” That sweeping ballroom moment we all love.

This is the one that feels like a family tradition waiting to happen. Dress up a little. Go downtown. Let the kids experience the magic of live theater. Leave humming the songs all the way home.

Buena Vista Social Club™

January 26–31, 2027

This one feels special.

Inspired by true events and the Grammy Award–winning album, Buena Vista Social Club™ brings the music and soul of Havana to the stage. It’s about big dreams, second chances, and the power of making music together.

From everything I’ve heard, the energy is incredible. A live band. Dancers. Music that makes you feel something deep in your chest. This is the kind of show that reminds you theater isn’t just something you watch. It’s something you experience.

Operation Mincemeat: A New Musical

March 2–7, 2027

I did not expect to be this excited about a musical involving World War II espionage and a stolen corpse, but here we are.

Operation Mincemeat is fast, funny, and based on a completely unbelievable true story. It’s been wildly successful in London and on Broadway, and it’s finally coming to Salt Lake City.

Think smart humor, rapid-fire storytelling, and a plot that sounds fake but absolutely isn’t. This one feels perfect for anyone who loves history, clever writing, or a show that surprises you.

Maybe Happy Ending

April 27 – May 2, 2027

This is the one I already know will wreck me in the best way.

Maybe Happy Ending is a deeply human story about connection, loneliness, and what it means to love—even when the characters themselves aren’t exactly human. It’s quiet, thoughtful, and emotional, and it’s been called one of the best new musicals in years.

This feels like a date-night show. Or a go-alone-and-cry-a-little show. Either way, I’m not missing it.

The Sound of Music

June 15–20, 2027

Some stories never get old.

The Sound of Music is one of those shows that feels like home. The music. The story. The reminder to follow your heart and sing when things get hard.

This new touring production is beautifully done, and it’s perfect for sharing with a new generation. If you’ve ever wanted to introduce your kids to live musical theater, this is a lovely place to start.

The Great Gatsby

July 27 – August 1, 2027

Close out the season with sparkle, drama, and a whole lot of jazz.

The Great Gatsby brings the Roaring Twenties to life with a bold score, stunning choreography, and all the longing and excess of Fitzgerald’s classic story. It’s glamorous and tragic and feels tailor-made for a big summer night at the Eccles.

This one feels like a dress-up-a-little, make-a-night-of-it kind of show.

Add-On Shows We’re Absolutely Saying Yes To

In addition to the main season, two fan favorites are coming back as add-ons:

  • Beetlejuice (January 5–10, 2027): Loud, hilarious, surprisingly heartfelt, and endlessly entertaining.
  • SIX (May 12–16, 2027): The six wives of Henry VIII as pop stars. High energy. Big voices. Girl power everywhere.

If you’ve never seen either, trust me. They’re worth it.

This season is big! Thoughtful. Joyful. Magical. It’s a reminder of how lucky we are to have Broadway-quality theater right here in Salt Lake City.

Existing subscribers are automatically renewed (lucky you), and new season ticket holders will be welcomed in the spring. If you’re thinking about it, get on the waitlist now. These shows are going to be talked about.

We’ll be there. Broadway is my favorite and I live for these shows to arrive. And I already can’t wait to share which ones stole our hearts the most.
