As moms, we’re usually the last ones on our own priority list. We make the appointments, pack the lunches, run the errands, and somewhere in there we promise ourselves we’ll “rest later.” This year, I decided later is now. I’ve been focusing on self care and overall health in ways that actually fill my cup instead of draining it.
That’s what led me to try the salt cave at Purify Wellness Center in Pleasant Grove, Utah.

I’d heard about salt therapy before, but I’ll be honest, I didn’t totally know what to expect. Was it just trendy? Was it actually relaxing? Would it really make a difference?
Spoiler alert: it absolutely did.

Walking Into the Salt Cave
We were able to book a private session for our group, which already made it feel special. The moment we walked in, I knew we were in for something different.
You take your shoes off at the door. There’s something grounding about that simple act. You grab a blanket if you want one, settle into a zero gravity reclining chair, and get comfortable. Once everyone is seated, the door closes and the salt air begins to gently circulate through the room.

The walls are made of salt bricks. The floor is covered in a soft, sand-like layer of salt. The lighting is warm and calming. It’s quiet in the best way.
Then you breathe.
And with every deep breath, you can literally feel your body start to decompress.
In a world where we’re constantly stimulated and rarely still, it felt almost luxurious to sit for 45 uninterrupted minutes. No phone. No to-do list. Just space to breathe, meditate, think, or even just exist.
It was wondrous in a busy world where slowing down feels impossible.
Why a Salt Cave? The Benefits Are Real
Salt therapy, also called halotherapy, has been used for years to support overall wellness. The cave at Purify contains 16 tons of salt, which naturally produce negative ions. These negative ions are known to help you feel calm, relax your nervous system, and release negative energy.
And that’s just the beginning.
Here are some of the benefits:
- Beneficial for all ages with no side effects
- Improves overall health and wellness
- Reduces stress and improves sleep
- Removes toxins from the respiratory system, which is essential for vital energy and longevity
- Enhances lung capacity
- Improves the function and appearance of skin
- Boosts the immune system
As someone who juggles a lot and often carries stress in my chest and shoulders, I was especially curious about the respiratory and relaxation benefits.
What really stood out to me was how I felt afterward.
I started my weekend with our session, and for the rest of the weekend I felt grounded and calm. But the biggest surprise? That night’s sleep.
It was deep. Restful. The kind of sleep where you wake up and feel like your body actually repaired itself. It was rejuvenating and so needed.
I asked my family members if they felt the same way, and they absolutely did. We all noticed clearer breathing. My lungs felt open. My skin felt fresh and clear. It wasn’t dramatic or flashy. It was subtle and powerful.
The kind of benefit that makes you say, “Okay, I need to keep doing this.”
Pricing and Options
If you’re curious about trying it, here’s what you need to know:
- Adult sessions are $25 per person for 45 minutes
- Private sessions (up to 14 people) are just $200 per hour
- 10 punch passes are available for $200
They also offer kids sessions Monday through Friday at 9am, 10am, and 11am. These are 25-minute sessions, and kids 12 and under are just $10. I love that this is something the whole family can benefit from.
But here’s what really impressed me.
Purify Wellness Center is also home to Utah County’s largest yoga studio with an incredible variety of classes. Their membership includes hot yoga, regular yoga, sound bath, and Pilates for $109 per month, or $89 per month with a year membership.
You can even add two salt cave sessions per month to the unlimited yoga pass for $130 per month, or $110 per month with a year commitment.
I haven’t actually done yoga before, but after seeing their space, I genuinely want to go back and try it. The entire studio has such a welcoming, peaceful energy. I’m also intrigued by their foot zoning and other wellness services. When you find a place that feels good, you want to explore more of what they offer.
If you’re looking for a new way to enhance your health, I recommend this 100%.
It’s not loud. It’s not extreme. It’s not another exhausting fitness challenge.
It’s simple. You sit. You breathe. Your body does the rest.
For me, this season has been about being intentional with my health instead of reactive. The salt cave at Purify Wellness Center felt like a step in the right direction. A reminder that caring for myself doesn’t have to be complicated. Sometimes it just means carving out 45 quiet minutes and allowing my body to reset.
And as a mom, that might be one of the most powerful things I can do.
