If you’re looking for a night out in Salt Lake City that’s a little different than dinner and a movie, I’ve got a new adventure for you to add to your list.

We recently gathered a group of our closest friends and headed downtown to check out Escapology Escape Rooms Salt Lake City, the newest escape room experience to open at The Gateway.

And let me just say… this isn’t your average puzzle room.

This place takes the escape room concept and turns it into a full-on immersive experience.

Naturally, we decided to start with one of the spookiest options on the list: Haunted House.

Because if you’re going to test your courage, you might as well go all in, right?

The Story Behind the Haunted House

The moment you walk into the room, you’re pulled into a chilling story.

Centuries ago, Mulberry Manor was built as a gift from Edward Mulberry to his wife and children. But in October of 1871, tragedy struck. Edward and his children were brutally murdered in a cold-blooded massacre. Their bodies were torn apart and scattered throughout the manor.

Since that night, anyone who dared enter the house has met the same grim fate.

And now… the estate belongs to you.

As the only living descendant of the Mulberry family, you’ve inherited the manor. You’ve heard the stories. You know the rumors. But curiosity and the promise of fortune pull you through the doors anyway.

Standing in the very place where the victims took their final breaths, you feel it immediately.

Something is wrong.

Something is watching.

You search desperately for a way out, but the doors slam shut behind you. The stories weren’t just rumors. The nightmare is real.

Now the question becomes:

Will you escape… or become the next victim of Mulberry Manor?

Working Together to Escape

We went in with a group of friends, and within minutes we were completely sucked into the experience.

Everyone naturally fell into different roles.

Someone was scanning the room for hidden clues. Someone else was deciphering codes. A few of us were shouting out theories like amateur detectives in the middle of a mystery novel.

And let me tell you, when someone solves a puzzle that unlocks the next step, the whole room erupts like you just scored the winning touchdown.

It’s teamwork at its finest.

We laughed. We panicked. We celebrated small victories. And at least once we all stood there staring at a puzzle wondering how on earth we had missed something so obvious.

In other words… it was ridiculously fun.

What really impressed us about Escapology was the level of detail. The rooms are beautifully designed and incredibly immersive. The lighting, sound effects, props, and storyline make it feel like you’ve stepped into a movie set instead of a puzzle room. It takes the entire escape room experience up a notch! It goes beyond solving puzzles, it feels like you are living within the story!

The Perfect Night Out

One of the things I loved most about this experience is how versatile it is.

This would be such a fun option for:

• A double date or group date night
• A family activity with teens or older kids
• A girls’ night out
• A prom or homecoming day date
• A team-building activity

It’s interactive, exciting, and best of all, it gets everyone off their phones and actually working together. And honestly, those are the nights that end up being the most memorable.

We had an absolute blast with Haunted House, so we’re already talking about going back. Why?Because they have a Scooby-Doo themed escape room. Yes. You read that right. For pure nostalgia alone, I’m definitely taking my kids back to try that one. I have a feeling it’s going to be just as fun (and maybe slightly less terrifying).
