Million Dollar Arm Sports fanatics in the house? You don’t actually have to be to enjoy this amazing feel good story by Disney, but it certainly does appeal to those that do. It’s perfect for the whole family. Great story and great acting, you will be happy you watched it!
Based on a true story, sports agent JB Bernstein finds that business has changed and things aren’t going well for his career. In a last ditch effort to save his livelihood he concocts a scheme to find baseball’s next great pitching ace. Hoping to find a young cricket pitcher he can turn into a major league baseball star, JB travels to India to produce a reality show competition called “The Million Dollar Arm.” With the help of cantankerous but eagle-eyed retired baseball scout Ray Poitevint he discovers Dinesh and Rinku, two young men who have no idea about playing baseball, yet have a knack for throwing a fastball. Hoping to sign them to major league contracts and make a quick buck, JB brings the boys home to America to train. While the Americans are definitely out of their element in India — the boys, who have never left their rural villages — are equally challenged when they come to the States. As the boys learn the finer points of baseball — JB, with the help of his charming friend Brenda — learns valuable life lessons about teamwork, commitment and what it means to be a family.

Maleficent For fairy tale lovers, here’s a twist on the classic Sleeping Beauty. Love this version of Maleficent’s side of the story and you will, too! Angelina Jolie is perfectly cast in her role as the villainous Maleficent. I loved the animated Sleeping Beauty from Disney, but I love that there is so much more to the story and so much depth to the characters in it. A great family movie!
Maleficent comes to retailers everywhere on Blu-ray next week, November 4th, and you can pick up your copy then. In the meantime, enjoy these fun Maleficent-themed Halloween activities!
Pee-wee’s Playhouse Ok, I will admit it, Pee-wee’s Playhouse is not a movie, but instead was an awesome TV show from the 1980s. One that I used to watch every Saturday morning. It might not be new to me, but it is to my kids. They loved him in Pee-wee’s Big Adventure, so why not introduce Pee-wee’s Playhouse to them, too? This collection, newly released on Blu-Ray today, will have them rolling with laughter. All 45 episodes, including Pee-wee’s Playhouse Christmas Special, in all their wacky glory can be seen in this 4 disc set. You will have fun reminiscing your childhood with your own kids and might even be surprised at who you recognize now on the show that you didn’t when you were a kid! Who remembers the secret word, connect the dots….la la la la…..and Mecka-lecka hi, Mecka-hiney ho? Ahhh, those were the days!
