My, My….How Can I Resist Ya?

I was invited to see the Mamma Mia! at its new location at the Broadhurst Theatre in New York City last week. With all the snow and ice, I couldn’t wait to make it into see the show set in warm, sunny Greece!

MM

We braved the cold temps in the city to step into the  theatre to see ABBA’s music tell the story of a soon-to-be married twenty year old, Sophie.  Never knowing the identity of her father, she discovers her mother’s diary and finds out that there may be three paternal possibilities.  To find out who he is, she invites all three to come to the wedding to give her away, assured she will know her father when she sees him.  When all three accept and show up to her Mediterranean island the day before her wedding, her world is turned upside down.

This upbeat and hilarious show is a blast!  We absolutely loved the set, the cast, and the entire experience! I was so impressed with the voices of the cast.  Donna (Judy McLane), Sophie’s mom, had an incredibly powerful voice.  She could seriously belt out those ABBA songs!  I especially loved Tanya, one of Donna’s best friends, in the show.  She possessed a contagious energy that was so fun!

Mamma Mia!

I frequently go see Broadway plays and some are better than others, this is one of the great ones, to be sure!  The music is fantastic and will have you dancing and singing along, as it features 22 of ABBA’s greatest hits.  It really is a terrific feel-good show!

You can purchase your own tickets to see this long-running show online.  You won’t regret seeing this show and you will be singing the songs for weeks afterwards!

*we were invited to see the show to facilitate a review, all opinions are my own.
