This month, I was able to celebrate my husband’s 40th birthday with lots of friends.  We had a great time!  To help me get ready for the party, I enlisted the help of some great party items that I can’t wait to share with you!

I knew the color scheme I was going to have would be silver, gold, black and white and I wanted to add some fun accents to the party. My favorite way to do that?  Have some personalized M & M’s created.  I love that you can customize them with any colors, names, and pictures if you want.  They turn out amazing!   You can even get party favor bags of the special M &M’s making it a fun treat for your guests to take with them as they leave.  I was so happy with how they turned out!

My favorite cake maker created another spectacular cake for the occasion.  A three tiered Black Forest cake. Chocolate, cherry and cream cheese frosting made this spectacular creation absolutely scrumptious.  You can see some of the other incredible cakes The Murphy Girl’s Sweet Shop has made for me for other special occasions here.

Minted is who I go for immediately when I am looking for Christmas cards, but I had never thought to check them out for party decor until now.  I selected some of the great designs from the Sparkle Everywhere line of products.

Circle garland printed with fireworks, stripes, and celebratory wishes is printed on heavy weight paper and is easily assembled on twine for quick hanging.  I loved the firework stickers to add to clear plastic cups for drinking, striped paper straws accented by flag shaped stickers, and I loved the corresponding black and white striped table runners with golden fireworks that could be monogrammed for my party.  All of these items were made of extremely high quality materials that held up great to our party.  One of the coolest things I was able to get at Minted was a photo backdrop.  I was once again able to customize for my needs and had birthday wishes for my husband printed on this heavy duty cloth backdrop.  This arrived in a large tube, ready to hang with grommets at the top.

I was so impressed with everything that I received from Minted and would use them again in a heartbeat for my upcoming parties.  I highly recommend them to you!

 

Since 40 is a milestone birthday, it’s fun to add some other special touches, too.  I found the most incredible shop on Etsy, TalkInChalk, that specializes in printable posters for just about any party.  To celebrate this particular anniversary, Gina, the owner of TalkInChalk ( who is so very helpful and creative) designed a poster that highlighted things about the year my husband was born.  Movies, songs, famous people and events, cost of living, and more.  This makes for a great conversation piece and was fun to have out on display.  You can customize the poster with colors and names, making this piece completely your own.  You receive the poster digitally and then you can easily print it at a local copy shop.  Simple, inexpensive, and fun!
