Bushkill Falls

School is finally out and summer has officially started for us, so we took a day trip with the family to a place we had never been before. Bushkill Falls is referred to as the Niagara Falls of Pennsylvania, so we decided that was a place to check out.  We love hiking, so we headed to our destination this past week.

The drive to the Poconos is very pretty, but we had no idea what we would find once we got to Bushkill Falls.

At the entrance to the trails, there are shops and museums, ponds for paddle boating, mini golf, and snack shops.  You actually have to pay to get into the park, which seems strange until you go inside and see the upkeep the money goes towards.  It was really worth the entrance fee.

Very clean and well maintained trails are found throughout. There are a couple of different trails you can pick, we chose the red trail, advanced for hikers.  There are stairways taking you down to the falls and back up again.  Be prepared for your legs to get sore! We spent about 3.5 hours hiking, enjoying the gorgeous scenery.  At times, it felt as if we were in a rainforest.  On the trail we picked, we saw over 10 different water falls.

Our entire family loved the trails and would definitely come back to visit again.  It was a fantastic day trip to kick off summer!
