An Afternoon at a Sprint Sound Session in NYC

*I was invited to participate in this event via MomCentral and Sprint.  I received an HTC One M8 phone to facilitate a review, all opinions are my own.

This past week, my husband and I were invited* to be a part of a very cool event courtesy of MomCentral and Sprint in New York City. We were excited to make our way into the city to the posh Lamb’s Club to come listen to the Sprint Sound Session and learn more about the latest products from Sprint.

Once at the event, we were able to mingle with some great representatives from Sprint who gave some presentations on new products that had been introduced, exclusively for Sprint, such as the HTC One M8  Harman Kardon edition.  This new phone boasts incredible sound quality and is accompanied by Harman Kardon ear buds, which are so incredibly clear, it’s crazy.

We also got to hear the new sound system available from Sprint, the Harman Kardon Onyx Studio.  Traditionally, you most likely wouldn’t think of purchasing a sound system to go with your phone, but I’m telling you, I think you should!  I don’t watch much TV.  Instead, I listen to music as I go about writing, cleaning, activities with the kids and exercising.  I also blast music from my phone when we are in the pool.  So the idea of using a system that can synch with my phone and provide a soundtrack to my life is something I am all about.   It’s easy to set up and use through bluetooth technology and you can use apps such as Spotify to play the music you want to hear. It’s also easy to set up and move from different locations if necessary.  I was really excited to see and hear this new product!

After being introduced to the products, we had a chance to sit down with some of the lovely ladies of Sprint and learn more about the advantages of using Sprint as our phone carrier, both for the new advantages of sound and music, and the practical applications of every day cell use.

I’ve been on the fence for a while now about switching providers.  At the time of this event, I was not with Sprint, nor did I have any inclination to be a customer. In our family, when you are twelve years old, you get the privilege of receiving a phone.  This is to easily communicate with my kids as they go to and from activities that I wouldn’t necessarily be going them on.  I wasn’t sold on my current provider and was at the end of our contract, so I’d been researching lots of providers.  None were overly impressive to me at this point, so I was waiting to learn more about Sprint.  So we had lots of questions!

I was happy to have the opportunity to discuss with the experts the advantages of using Sprint for my family.  They answered all my questions in detail and really helped me decide what I wanted to do.  Sprint has a great Framily plan right now that allows you to get great pricing with friends, family, acquaintance and your mailman, if you’d like, without seeing each other’s bills.  The more the merrier in this set up and it allows for great features.  This is really appealing to me with the size of my family and the amount of cell phone plans we need.  But, I have to say, what interested me the most in using Sprint was their features for families.  For example, did you know that you can create a new contract for your child when they receive a cell phone.  A document is available online that helps you go over the rules (some of which you may not have thought of) with your child.  They sign the contract, as do you, so it makes it easy to follow the rules and discuss possible scenarios that could come up.  This is an awesome feature!

If you are concerned with the idea of how your child is using the phone, SprintGuardian is available to help you customize controls on the phone. Using this bundle package, you can lock the phone down during certain hours of the day, locate your child via GPS at any time, and make sure they made to school, even.

One of the other features that I really liked was Sprint’s safety initiative, SprintDriveFirst. This feature is really impressive to me.  Using this app, when the GPS in the phone detects speeds over 10 miles an hour, the phone is locked down so that the driver does not get the alerts of texts and emails or even phone calls to distract them from driving.

The features offered from Sprint were enough to get me to lean a different way in my search for cell phone providers!  I appreciate the consideration of family safety when it comes to cell usage and was really impressed with all I learned from Sprint.  Getting to speak one on one with Amy from Sprint was a very valuable use of my time and for that reason alone made this event great for me.

Once we had the opportunity to learn so much about Sprint and their products, we were in for a huge treat!  Season Two winner of The Voice, Jermaine Paul, was a guest at the event and performed some original music for us, projected on the Harman Kardon Onyx Studio speakers.  This was one of Sprint’s Sound Sessions and it was excellent!  This private concert sounded incredible!  What a voice he has and he was so friendly and funny.  It was so much fun to get to be there for his performance.

I was so happy to be invited to this Sprint Sound Session, being a #SprintMom and listening to #SprintMusic at the event.  I learned so much and enjoyed a very fun afternoon!

  1. I’m from the Philippines and I know Sprint is one of the telecommunication company in the US. We have call centers here whose client is Sprint. This is a great event because it’s a sound session with lots of fun and learning.
