Gallivanting in Georgetown

We have been to Washington, D.C. several times over the years and have really enjoyed our visits.  However, we wanted to explore the city and visit areas that we hadn’t seen before.  We were excited to be invited* to stay at the Georgetown Suites in Washington, D.C. this past week.  We knew we were in for a treat, as Georgetown is one of our very favorite neighborhoods! This lively and historic area was exactly the difference we were looking for in our stay.

Other areas of the city we have stayed have left us a little bored once the museums close down for the day.  Although there is much to do in the city, and Washington, D.C. is known as a walking town, that’s really only accurate depending on where you stay, as you could be walking a very long way.  With kids in tow after exploring the sites all day long, that can be a bad thing!  However, staying at Georgetown Suites was a way different experience for our family.  Our hotel was located in the heart of Georgetown allowing us easy access to the monuments and Smithsonian attractions, but it also opened up a new world of unique restaurants, great shopping, tasty desserts, and lots of entertainment when we were occupied with museums.

We were able to park our car at the hotel and come and go as we pleased, if we wanted to visit other areas of the city.  We could just as easily use public transportation, as it was right next to our hotel.  But, what we loved, was that we could walk outside the hotel and straight into Georgetown and we had so much to do for hours upon hours.  We dined at a great BBQ restaurant, Old Glory, and had dessert at Georgetown Cupcakes of TLC fame, walked by the canals and next to the Potomac and had the kids run through a labyrinth and water fountain in a local park.

The area was very safe and clean, loaded with culture and energy.  We loved it!

After being out all day, we loved coming back to our spacious two bedroom suite that fit our family of six perfectly!  Separate bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, eating area, and living room made us very comfortable and we felt very relaxed in the wonderfully air-conditioned accommodations.  Our rooms were very clean and had everything we could possibly want or need for our stay.  If we had wanted to, we would have been able to make our own dinner at the hotel, as the kitchen is fully equipped with a refrigerator, oven, microwave, and dishwasher.

The beds were wonderful, probably one of the best I have ever slept on in a hotel.  Each of us slept great, which is definitely not always the case when we stay in a hotel!  We awoke energized and ready for more exploration.  The bathrooms were nice and roomy, showers were great!  I loved the fragrant shampoo and conditioner and other products that were left, too, as they were so nice!

Before you head out for the day, you can go to the lobby where there is a continental breakfast available, included in your stay.  If you are traveling with your family, you know just how important that is!  Another great feature was the free wi-fi, as we are a family that uses it constantly!

I highly recommend staying at Georgetown Suites.  It was a very pleasurable experience for our family and made our vacation a great one!  Washington, D.C. is a great place to visit and staying at Georgetown Suites made it that much more enjoyable!

You can learn more about Georgetown Suites by visiting their site and book your own stay, too. Washington, D.C. is a short drive away!

*we were invited to stay at the hotel to facilitate a review, all opinions are my own.
