Saturday Night at the Keswick

I shared with you earlier this month about being excited to see Toad the Wet Sprocket as they stopped at the Keswick Theatre in Glenside, an area outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  This past Saturday was the day and the show was great!

The Keswick Theatre is located on a very cute street, almost European looking, lined with shops and restaurants.  Not at all where you would imagine a theatre to be located.  The old-fashioned building is really charming with the large marquis announcing future shows on the outside.  Stepping inside the theatre, it is an intimate setting, with 1300 seats all on one level.  There are no bad seats in the house.  The acoustics are great in here.

We got to start the show with Beta Play, a great new group that actually had quite a few songs I had heard before and really enjoyed.  Following their impressive performance were musical veterans Toad the Wet Sprocket, who have been on the music scene since the early 1990’s.  They played a great set list for fans, performing old favorites, rare tracks, and even some new music, including a song for an upcoming movie Animal Crackers, called “One of Those Days.”  It was a great show and a fantastic venue, a wonderful way to spend a summer Saturday night.

If you’ve not been to the Keswick Theatre, you definitely need to go.  This was the second concert that I’ve seen here, the other being Retro Futura tour a couple of years ago that featured Tom Bailey of the Thompson Twins.  Looking back at all of the shows I’ve ever been to, and I have been to a lot, that was by far and away my favorite concert!  It was phenomenal!

Keswick Theatre has so much on the calendar for their upcoming 2017-2018 season, you will definitely want to check it out.  Shows for kids like Peppa Pig and Shopkins for the littlest family members, comedians like Demetri Martin and Whitney Cummings, and concerts with bands like America and Randy Newman are all in this year’s line up and tons more.  Be sure to visit their website and see what peaks your interest!

We can’t wait to go back to the Keswick Theatre and enjoy another great night out!

*we were invited to see a show to facilitate a feature, all opinions are my own.
