We’ve been super busy this summer, living life to it’s fullest. Sports, jobs, college visits, and travel have kept our days maxed out. It’s hard sometimes to juggle everything you need to and try to make the summer super fun at the same time. It’s especially hard when the weather isn’t cooperating and you can’t get all those days in the sun you envisioned at the beginning of the summer. Lots of rainy days here in New Jersey this summer have tried to keep us indoors, but thankfully, there is still a lot to do inside with your kiddos.
One of our favorite things to do this summer when the weather is gray and rainy, is to head over the border into Pennsylvania for an active few hours bouncing your heart out at SkyZone in Bethlehem*.
This is a kids’ paradise! Simply buy a time slot that allows you to jump for 30, 60, 90 minutes or even the day, a pair of grippy socks, and let the kids run off for some serious exercise disguised as fun.
The large warehouse like facility was a welcome reprieve as a blast of cool air-conditioned air hit us as we walked inside, breaking up the mugginess outside. We knew we were in for a great time, as we checked in, we could see a vast play area ahead.
Upon arriving, we were greeted by an extremely friendly staff and were able to check in seamlessly. Waivers are required, but are simple to fill out ahead of time via an online form. The kids got checked in and then they were off. You pay for a block of time, so depending on how long you have purchased, you will receive a sticker to put on your shirt that corresponds with the time you are to leave. A member of the staff will announce at half-hour increments which sessions have come to a close, so you don’t have to be watching the clock.
There are a ton of areas to play here! The park boasts a large open space with lots of trampoline floors, a ball pit area where you are allowed to do flips, graduated basketball hoops with a bouncy floor beneath allow for you to slam dunk, a dodgeball arena is enclosed from the rest of the bounce park where you can pummel opposing teams, an area just for those under 46 inches tall, and the coolest American Ninja Warrior-type obstacle course. There really is so much to do!
In addition to that, you can also hold a birthday party or special event at SkyZone! Party rooms are available for those options. They even have designated hours for young and special needs children to participate in the fun without the distraction of too many or older kids. For the older teens, they have a really cool GLOW night where everything is lit by blacklight. That sounds like so much fun!
My kids absolutely loved SkyZone. There was fun to be had for all ages, as I saw very young children there as well as adults playing, too! I was happy at the amount of people there, as well. There is so much space, you don’t really have to wait for anything, nothing was overcrowded.
The only drawback we found is that the time went by fast. That’s not really a bad thing, as they say, time flies when you are having fun! We spent two hours there, which was the perfect amount to get some serious energy out and have a great time. I am so excited to know about SkyZone, as I now have a great go-to for birthday parties and activities in the winter months when it’s just too cold to play outside. We will definitely be back and highly recommend that you give it a try, too!
