2022 Holiday Gift Guide: Fun & Games

Once you are done with the cold and sledding, wouldn’t it be fun to go home and play some Foosball in a nice warm family room? Of course it would! GoSports is loaded with tons of great merchandise for the outdoors, but also for the indoors, too! We love their affordable 48″ Foosball table for indoor play. Available in a few different finishes, you can select what works best with your decor. You can guarantee that it will be well loved and it’s a great way to spend time together as a family or to enjoy with friends. It’s best suited for ages 8 and up and easy to assemble. We love that GoSports knew that this game can get extra rowdy and so they built this particular table to withstand the competitive natures they knew would be playing with it!

Want to play some games that get your family moving? Check out these fun options from Starlux games. Wizards & Werewolves is a super fun way to get kids (and adults) playing together. Make it a neighborhood activity when the sun goes down. Up to 10 players can play! So much fun! Feel like battling it out? Pick up a game of GlowBattle. You can turn off the lights and let up to 4 plays battle it out as ninjas with foam swords. Play it indoors or out, just let them burn lots of energy while they play! New to the Starlux games line up is a fantastic game, great for kids 12 and up, called Let’s Split Up. This parody on Horror movies is hysterical and is a great way to pass the time with family and friends. It’ so much fun!

The new Cake-N-Bake Challenge is a totally different kind of action-packed family game with a delicious, rainbow-layer, foam cake being the center of attention! Object of the game is to, well, just be the fastest baker! Players will race to stack their cake slices based on the order on a game card. The first player to correctly stack their cake wins a candle, and whoever collects six candles wins. Great for preschoolers learning their colors – plus no reading required!!

Games that little ones can play with you and without you are great. We love the new Blackbeard’s Treasure Hunt from Vango Toys. There are actually several ways to play this game for lots of interactive fun and skill building. Follow the treasure map, unlock a treasure chest and collect the booty of gold doubloons that spill out of the chest! This one is a lot of fun for the littlest swashbucklers! You can find it on Amazon.

We have found ourselves around the table many times as a family battling it out through a game of Risk: Europe. This enhanced game of conquest will excite gamers with hours of battle and strategizing to control Europe! Each player steps into the role of a medieval king and competes with a full army to expand their kingdom and take over Europe. Through shrewd tactical planning –and a little bit of lucky dice rolling- one player will conquer Europe and reign supreme! This is one that we will revisit over and over again.

Did you learn a new language over the last couple of years? Some of our family actually did! Why not sharpen up your skills with a game of Scrabble, but let’s make it Spanish Scrabble! It’s the latest edition to the Scrabble family and we have had a great time playing the classic game but in a different language.

Some of my very favorite games are the oldest and might very well need to be introduced to your kids. Winning Moves has an abundance of these classic games to play with your family. Checkers is always fun to play and a great building block to learning to play Chess. Clue Classic Edition is always super fun to play. This is exactly the version we had as kids and it’s just as much fun now as it was then. Of course, there are fun party games like Twister that will have your whole crewing cracking up in no time as you get tied up in knots. No matter which game you choose, you will be spending quality time engaging with the ones you love the most, and that is priceless.

Speaking of old-school faves, you can’t go wrong with Spirograph! Available in a wide variety of products now, these were some of my favorites to make the coolest designs. I am loving the Spirograph Mandala which kicks it up a notch or two. Still able to create the mesmerizing designs, you can even use stencils to add more beautiful patterns and details to your creations. So pretty! A great STEM and stress-relieving toy that even adults and teens will love.

For those hardcore Criminal Minds fans, we’ve got a great game for you! UNknown SUBject is a fast-paced social deduction game based on the hit TV show Criminal Minds! Play as familiar FBI Behavioral Analysis Unit Agents to identify the killer in your midst, or work against the goals of the BAU to get away with your crimes and escape! Investigate, use the profile, and accuse your fellow players to come out on top! This one is a ton of fun.

We love trivia games, and what better way to get the whole family involved that make it a Disney one? The Magical World of Disney Trivia game from Playmonster is a great game for everyone ages 6 and up. With questions spanning from Steamboat Willie to Encanto, this trivia game takes you on a journey through time. Play as iconic Disney and Pixar characters while visiting 3D points of interest from the movies, and race toward the finish line to be named the game’s Ultimate Disney Trivia Master. Even the youngest fans can get in on the fun with special cards just for kids. This collectible game features a unique box and board with original Disney and Pixar sketch art. Play the game everyone will love, from young to old and superfan to casual watcher.

For those that grew up in the 1950s-1970’s, Boom Again is a must-have. This “cultural trivia” board game from the creator of Taboo, Outburst, and Super Scattergories, will take Baby Boomers back to warm, fun memories of growing up—and breaks the mold of conventional trivia games. The game speaks directly to the generation that grew up in that time period. Designed to be played by two players—or two teams, Boom Again features over 2,200 questions drawing from advertising slogans and jingles, politics and social movements, movies, music, and television. It’s packaged in a “cigar box” — just like the ones where Boomers kept their prized possessions. Authentic touchstones become the game tokens, including a real metal skate key, the center insert adapter from a 45 rpm record, a “Students For Kennedy” campaign button, a Vietnam-Era dog tag, and a working roach clip. The game even includes a “Boomer’s Little Helper” magnifier, just in case players forget their readers.
