There is something about a great movie on the big screen that streaming just cannot replicate. The sound that wraps around you, the size of it, the way everyone in that dark theater laughs at the same moment or gasps at the same twist — it is a completely different experience than watching something from your couch. I love movies at home as much as anyone, but there are certain films that deserve more than a laptop screen and a bowl of leftover popcorn. They deserve the full theater treatment.

That is exactly why I am absolutely thrilled about what Fathom Entertainment is doing this summer. They are bringing back two iconic films — both celebrating their 25th anniversaries — for limited theatrical events. And I do mean limited. These are not wide releases. These are special, blink-and-you’ll-miss-them screenings that are going to sell out, and I refuse to let you miss them.

We are talking about Legally Blonde and Ocean’s Eleven. In theaters. This summer. I’ll give you a moment.

Legally Blonde Is Celebrating 25 Years — And It’s Back Where It Belongs

Screenings: May 24 & 27

Can you believe it has been 25 years since Elle Woods walked into our lives and absolutely refused to leave? Legally Blonde is one of those movies that I genuinely believe gets better with age, and if you have not seen it on the big screen — or if you saw it in 2001 and want to relive every single moment — this is your chance.

Elle Woods (Reese Witherspoon) is a California blonde with couture clothes, fabulous friends, and the hottest boyfriend on campus. When Warner Huntington III suddenly dumps her and heads to Harvard Law School, Elle does the only logical thing: she enrolls too. What starts as a mission to win him back quickly turns into something so much bigger — a fight for love, honor, justice, and respect for blondes everywhere.

This film is all about underestimation and grit, wrapped in the most perfect shade of pink you have ever seen. Elle Woods is one of the most quietly inspiring characters in modern cinema, and I will stand by that until the day I die. She is told — in a hundred different ways, by a hundred different people — that she does not belong. And she proves every single one of them wrong, on her own terms, without ever once pretending to be someone she is not.

Here is the extra special part: this 25th anniversary release includes a special intro from Reese Witherspoon herself, along with an exclusive sneak peek at the Prime Video prequel series Elle.

Ocean’s Eleven Is Also Turning 25 — And the Big Screen Is the Only Way to Watch This One

Screenings: June 21 & June 24

If Legally Blonde is the movie you watch when you need to feel empowered, Ocean’s Eleven is the movie you watch when you want to feel impossibly cool for two hours. And it has never been anything less than an absolute blast.

Dapper Danny Ocean (George Clooney) is a man of action. Less than 24 hours out of a New Jersey penitentiary, he is already planning what will become the most sophisticated, elaborate casino heist in history. His handpicked crew of eleven specialists — including Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, and Don Cheadle — plan to steal over $150 million from three Las Vegas casinos owned by Terry Benedict (Andy Garcia), the ruthless entrepreneur who just happens to be dating Danny’s ex-wife Tess (Julia Roberts).

Is it about the money? Is it about the girl? Is Danny Ocean really capable of pulling off something this impossible? That is the magic of this movie — you are never entirely sure, right up until the very end. Every scene crackles. The cast has chemistry that Hollywood has been trying to recreate ever since. And the ending? Absolute perfection.

This anniversary release also includes exclusive insight from film critic Leonard Maltin, which is a genuinely wonderful addition for anyone who loves movies as much as I do.

This one is a two-date event — June 21 and June 24 — and it is part of Fathom’s Big Screen Classics series. Do not let either date pass you by.

How to Get Your Tickets

Both of these are available right now through Fathom Entertainment, and I can not stress enough how limited these screenings are. This is not a “I’ll get to it eventually” situation. This is a “block the calendar and buy the tickets today” situation.

Head to fathomentertainment.com, search for the film you want, enter your zip code, and find a theater near you. Tickets are available directly through participating theater box offices and through Fathom’s website.

These events are exactly what a summer night out should look like. Grab your best friend, your sister, your mom, your partner — whoever deserves a great night — and get yourself to a theater. Because some movies were made for the big screen, and both of these are absolutely on that list.

You will not regret it. I promise.
