We had a rough week last week.  Bronchitis, the stomach flu, and dad was out of town.  We were all exhausted and I even found myself with a bit of insomnia, even though I was so tired all I wanted to do was sleep.  So the package we received from Marpac couldn’t have had better timing!

Inside the package was a very simple sound conditioner called a Dohm-NSF. I opened it up to find a dome shaped small appliance.  Plug it in and it emits the most soothing white noise.  No ocean or bird sounds, just wonderful soft sound that instantly helps you relax.  I was really amazed at how just hearing it for a few minutes made you feel like unwinding and changed my mindset.

Now, I have long been a fan of sound machines–at one point in time, I even slept with a humidifier to give some white noise to help soothe me to sleep.  Quiet is not something that I can sleep to!  But, I really thought that just soft white noise was something that wouldn’t be enough to lull me to sleep.  I thought loud and some sort of specific sound would do the trick.  I was wrong!  The dohm was able to get me to sleep quickly, even after nothing else worked this past week. Ahh..the sweet relief of a good night’s sleep was heavenly!

My son, who doesn’t love the sound of birds chirping in the night, heard my new sound machine and the next thing I knew, it was in his room.  He loves the dohm!  It now belongs to him because he is a growing boy and needs as much sleep as possible! It looks like purchasing a new dohm is in my future for my bedroom!

I really like the simplistic design of the machine, it is white with a silver circle on top, with a light gray switch to adjust the sound and turn the machine on.  Works great and easy to use.  But, if you like a snazzier design, you are in luck, as you can create or pick a skin for the machine online through their website.  I also really like the price point being about $55, as it is a fraction of the cost of other sound machines I have purchased. You can also feel good knowing that the machine is made in the USA and is the official sound conditioner of the National Sleep Foundation! I highly recommend picking one up for yourself! You can purchase one through their website or through Amazon, and places like Target and Walmart.
