I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream for Ice Cream!

Remember when you were a kid and you got a letter or package in the mail? How fun was that?! Now that we’re older, the mail we receive doesn’t quite get us as excited anymore. I mean, who actually gets excited to receive a bill? When it is fun, everyone loves getting something in the mail, though.

If you are looking to brighten someone’s day this summer, whether it be for a birthday, just to let someone know you are thinking of them, or maybe even to send a surprise to your own family, I have the best Harry & David gift basket ever for summer that you have to know about.  I’ve been able to try many Harry & David gifts before and I’ve been very pleased with all of them. But the gift I received* this month to test out went above and beyond. We received the McConnell’s Favorite Ice Cream Assortment gift and my kids were ecstatic to open the box and find six pints of gourmet ice cream covered in dry ice.

Getting ice cream in the mail on a super hot day is way better than the ice cream truck driving by, as they could test out all the flavors and cool down at the same time.  We had so much fun trying all these delicious  flavors, it’s like we had our very own ice cream parlor at our disposal.

The McConnell’s Favorites Ice Cream Assortments ships from Harry & David and arrives within two days, due to the nature of the product.  It was packaged very well and the ice cream arrived frozen, not even soft, on a 94 degree afternoon. When we opened the box we found some delicious sounding flavors like Summer Peach, Salted Caramel Chip, Dark Chocolate Paso Brittle, Meyer Lemon and Oregon Marionberry, Double Peanut Butter Chip, and Vanilla Bean.

There was something for everyone.  We sampled each flavor to find our favorite.  I couldn’t get over how refreshing and perfect the Meyer Lemon and Oregon Marionberry was–this is my new favorite ice cream flavor–ever!  A very close second was Summer Peach.  I tend to love fruity flavored ice creams, so this was not a surprise to me that I would gravitate towards those particular flavors.  Each of my children loved a different flavor and enjoyed trying each one, although the Dark Chocolate Paso Brittle and Vanilla Bean went heavenly together and they seemed to enjoy that combination the best.  The texture of the ice cream was so smooth and creamy and the flavors were rich.  The combination of ingredients were on the sophisticated side, but my kids loved trying all the flavors which they normally wouldn’t have tried before.

So what makes this ice cream so exceptionally good?  In business since 1949, the McConnell’s ice cream brand uses grass-fed cows’ milk and cage free eggs in a hybrid French pot process to create the best product imaginable.

I can’t tell you how wonderful this ice cream is, you will have to try it for yourselves and be delighted with the delicious flavors.  We highly recommend this gift basket to you! To order your own or send a gift to a loved one, check out Harry & David’s site.

  7. I love ice cream. My friends and I are attempting at trying 31 flavors from Baskin Robbins this year. Hopefully we’ll be able to finish without affecting our health a lot. Reminds me to exercise now. And balance with a pound of veggies. The ice cream looks really good. I like frozen yogurt too.
