My boys were (are) huge fans of Disney Infinity. When they started playing it when it first came out, they seriously thought it was the coolest game ever. My one son did say to me, “Wouldn’t it be cool if they made a Spider-Man for Disney Infinity?” Indeed, I thought it would be, but didn’t see the likelihood of that happening back when it was first released.
Apparently, he is not the only one to think that it would be cool to have Spider-Man included in the Disney Infinity universe, as tomorrow Disney Infinity 2.0 Marvel Super Heroes comes to store shelves everywhere! You can only imagine how happy he was to hear of this news. In fact, I’ve been hearing about it for months. Every little update or news release that has come out, he has quickly turned around to share the news with me. It has been very much anticipated to see what it would be like and to get his hands on a copy of the game to play.
Well, he no longer needs to wait to find out what it is like because we received a copy to check out* before it was released! This was the package to end all packages. Opening up that box was like Christmas had arrived in September. Inside was everything he would need to try out the game exactly the way it was meant to be played.
We received a copy on XBox 360 and immediately got to playing! Everything you loved about the first Disney Infinity is here but so much more. Same type of game play that they really enjoy. We love Disney characters, but in a house full of boys, super heroes is where it’s at. So to have a platform to free play with everything Marvel is more than awesome! There is so much that can be done with Disney Infinity 2.0 and my boys are in heaven playing it. Brand new Marvel locations, Toy Box and games make this game so much fun. The original stories for the game were written with the help of award winning Marvel comic writer Brian Michael Bendis. So my kids are thrilled with the authenticity of super hero play. Everything you need to play the game comes standard in the starter pack:
- 3 Marvel Super Heroes Figures (Iron Man, Thor and Black Widow)
- 1 Disney Infinity Base (2.0 edition)
- 2 Toy Box Game Discs
- 1 Marvel’s The Avenger’s Play Set piece.
While you don’t need anything extra to play the game, it’s fun to add to your collection. Power discs enhance the game with customization and personalization, which my kids love spending time doing. This is what makes the game so fun, the game changes with whatever you add to it. We are so excited to add to those as they become available, as there are 80 new discs coming out!
Starting tomorrow, there is a whole lot of characters being released that will make your game play virtually endless. Then a second wave in early November will add even more characters. There’s not a character we don’t love, as we are huge Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Spider-Man fans here. Although, Iron Man and Spider-Man are probably the ultimate favorites, the other characters are not far behind. Here is something that my boys and I both like, you can actually use Disney Infinity 1.0 characters and saves from your Disney Infinity 1.0 game and they can play on 2.0! I love when items you have purchased don’t become obsolete with the latest version of the product!
This is definitely at the top of the list of must-have holiday gifts this year, so it would be wise to pick up your copy and characters right away! It gets two big thumbs up from my kids and I know your kids (as well as teens and parents, too!) will love it.

My boys have been desperately waiting for this!! They keep asking if it has been released yet and super heroes we plan on getting first and if I think HULK will be included (I can now tell them yes)! I think I’m going to get them the starter set and then let santa handle the rest 🙂

Sounds like Disney Infinity games are fun and interesting. Science Direct, a leading scientific database republished a study that shows that gamers report a higher sense of well being than non-gamers as they grow. All these games would definitely be at the top of the list and it is going to be the best holiday gifts of this year.

I’ve been meaning to play Disney Infinity with my little guy! We just have to get around to actually purchasing it! Perhaps for Christmas for him! If so, I’m definitely going to be getting the Marvel super heroes pack! He’s absolutely obsessed with super heroes these days!

I’ve been stoked for this for a wile but I heard that it isn’t as full featured as the first. Apparently there’s only one playset in the starter kit instead of three like last time. That said, i think the characters this time around are far more interesting!

There is a base that comes with the game. Place the figures on the game and it unlocks characters and gameplay specific to those figures. The power discs can enhance backgrounds, powers, or accessories. So each new character you get unlocks an entire new facet to the game. Really cool!
