We recently enjoyed a fun family getaway in Mashantucket, Connecticut and were able to enjoy a very relaxing stay at Foxwoods Resort Casino.  It was a blast!  There was so much to do as a family.  But, one of the nights were were there, we decided to just have dinner as a couple, sans children.  As there are several very nice restaurants on site, this was easy to do.  We were invited to dine at Cedar’s Restaurant and we were excited to see what was in store for us.

I love a good steak dinner and Cedar’s Restaurant is the perfect spot to grab one while in Mystic.  Upscale, yet comfortable, the atmosphere here is very relaxing for a dinner date.  We started our meal with house made rolls with cranberry butter.  A great way to kick off our experience.

Since we were near the sea, we definitely wanted to try some fresh seafood.  We got the Jumbo Crabmeat Cocktail, served with the most delicious cocktail sauce, with a spicy kick of horse radish.  The crab meat was so fresh, I highly recommend starting with this appetizer.  We also wanted a good shrimp cocktail.  This was served with the same dipping sauce and it was fabulous.

We then ordered our meals.  Very rarely, I eat prime rib while out at a restaurant.  I love it when I do see it on the menu and that night, I was definitely in the mood to have it.  It arrived medium rare, just how I like it, accompanied by a baked potato.  It was just what I was hoping for and more.

My husband ordered a ribeye, highly recommended by the staff, and it did not disappoint.  Accompanied with his melt in your mouth steak was a rich macaroni and cheese, which I snuck a few bites of (it’s my favorite) and definitely would have ordered when coming back to the restaurant.

We were so full from such a delicious meal, but we knew we had to save room for dessert and maybe even treat our kids since they missed out on such an amazing dinner.  We ended up trying several of their desserts with the kiddos and so glad we did! One of the best desserts ever is their Fruit Fiesta.  They are known for this in particular and now that I am writing this, all I am wishing is that I had one for dessert tonight!  This is an almond shell with white chocolate mouse with a combination of sweet sauces loaded with fresh raspberries, strawberries, and blackberries.  The PERFECT summer dessert!

Everything we ate at Cedar’s Restaurant was really wonderful.  It was a fantastic way to spend an evening, we were very happy with our food.  However, I should mention, that even better than the food was the exceptional service we received from the staff.  They were very attentive and accommodating, making our dinner with them a very pleasurable experience.When you are in town, definitely stop in to dine at Cedar’s Restaurant for a special night out!
