Inspired Imagination

We awoke to quite the storm this morning, our first real storm of the winter!  That means a lazy snow day to do whatever we want.

Last night, a really cool package arrived that we decided to check out today.  Inside was a 3D Magic Pen from Hamilton Buhl*.  I’m sure everyone has heard about 3D printers and maybe even some have had a chance to try them out.  This is basically a pen that makes 3D creations, sort of like a cross between a pencil and a hot glue gun.

We were excited to give it a try! My son is a HUGE Tim Burton fan.  I mean really big fan.  He loves all of his movies, characters ,and books, and is especially fond of Tim Burton’s Tragic Toys (as seen on Amazon below).

He was inspired this morning to create his own characters using the 3D Magic Pen.  He set to work experimenting with the pen and found it was easy to use and really fun to make his own art.  He read over the instructions very quickly, they are very simple to follow, and in no time was making everything he wanted.

From there, he developed his own background story and wrote a letter to Tim Burton himself, sharing his creations.

I have to say, what a great way to spend the morning.  As it fosters creativity, this 3D Magic Pen is so awesome!  All my kids have been enjoying it since and I know there will be many more items created and imagination brought to life.  Can you imagine the school projects that can be made with this, as well?   In addition to the filament colors that come with the pen, you can also purchase a 15 pack filament to supplement your creations with lots of bright colors.  The colors are so vibrant! This is a product we are loving and know you will, too!  You can learn more about the 3D Magic Pen by visiting their website.
