It’s March, a time when I should be outside, enjoying the birds singing, the sun’s warmth on my skin, blue skies and feeling the need to plan some fun spring break destinations.  Instead, I am sitting here, snowed in, as New Jersey has declared a state of emergency from the second nor’easter this week.

Taking a few minutes to relax this morning, I turned on the TV and saw one of my old favorite movies from my childhood was on, “The Parent Trap.”  Such a great movie!  I loved Hayley Mills and all her movies.  Actually, for some reason her movies remind me of spring and summer, which takes me back to wishing there wasn’t snow piling high on my driveway.  Ah….what ever happened to Hayley Mills?  As it so happens, she’s in New York City right now, starring in new off Broadway play by Irish playwright Isobel Mahon and directed by Amanda Bearse!  How fun is that?!

You’re invited to a party that’s full of surprises. Watch as careful plans are upended when a young woman’s mother brings her own food to her daughter’s party—and also the “right” person to be her daughter’s new best friend. They put on their “party faces” and hope for the best, but when facades crack, secrets spill. Tears sprinkle and laughter roars as their revelry leads to revelations.

PARTY FACE, written by the wickedly brilliant Irish playwright Isobel Mahon, is coming to City Center direct from Ireland where it continues to receive standing ovations in sold-out theatres. Come see this hilarious and bitingly honest play about the lengths we go to convince people we’ve got it all together—and the love and acceptance we find once we allow the truth to expose our imperfectly perfect selves. It’s an invitation to celebrate life that you don’t want to miss.
