It’s time to gear up for Halloween! My favorite time of year!
Does anything really get any scarier than what we’ve all experienced in 2020? Not really, right? That’s why, more than any other year, we were dying to go to a haunted house to celebrate the month of October and think about something other than what is in the news. We jumped at the chance to visit Fear Factory, a bonafide haunted attraction in downtown Salt Lake City.
I’ve never been to a haunted house in Utah, and I am coming from the East Coast where I have experienced some incredible haunted attractions, so I was curious to see how it could possibly live up to my favorite haunts in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. It was actually named the 3rd scariest attraction in the world!
Upon arrival, I was impressed with the looming dark factory that stood before us. The eery silhouettes of the cluster of buildings set the perfect backdrop for what was going to be a spine-tingling evening. Scary figures loomed throughout the property vying for their chance to spook you as you awaited your turn to enter. Already, it was off to a great start.
We got situated and made our way through the entrance and we were transported to a dark, sinister realm where anything could happen to scare you out of your mind. I loved it! We weaved through 6 buildings and passed through amazing sets, unlike those I have ever seen before. Considering this girl goes to multiple haunted houses each year, that is really saying something! The special effects were really incredible. At one point in time, I felt as if I was really within a dilapidated cathedral and the ambiance was insane. Each room we entered was better than the next and I was so impressed. Aside from Eastern State Penitentiary, which is a building that belongs to a category in and of itself, this was the coolest set for a haunted house I have ever been to.
Given the crazy circumstances and restrictions surrounding our visit (COVID-19), Fear Factory did a phenomenal job balancing the fun and the safety necessary to be open.
“We said this before we were the first haunt to successfully open during the pandemic in May for our annual Halfway to Halloween event, our primary concern is and will always be the health and well-being of our guests, employees and team members,” said Rob Dunfield, Fear Factory Founder and COO. “By taking the Stay Safe To Stay Open pledge we’re further demonstrating our commitment to operating safely during our new COVID-19 world. Prior to participating in this campaign, we were already practicing these safety precautions and in most cases, have held ourselves to an even more stringent standard. We want the Fear Factory to be a place that is both safe and fun for children and fans of all ages and encourage other local businesses to commit to Stay Safe To Stay Open and support safe business practices.”
The Fear Factory was the first haunt to open in the United States after the pandemic with its annual Halfway to Halloween event in May. Since successfully opening in May, the Fear Factory has worked tirelessly with other haunt owners around the country to establish best practices and to identify ways to ensure the health and safety of its guests.
Beginning in May, the Fear Factory implemented a number of these safety measures and attributes its dedication to these guidelines to its perfect safety record and continued success during the pandemic.
“We’ve always believed that by putting our attendee’s safety first that we’ll be successful and provide our guests with an extraordinary experience,” continued Dunfield. “We’re confident that by committing to Stay Safe To Stay Open we will not only ensure the safety of our guests but will help create awareness and consumer confidence which will benefit businesses across the state while strengthening our local economy.”
So fear not for your own safety while visiting Fear Factory, these guys have you covered so if you make it out of the the clutches of demons and ghouls, you will live to tell about it later on.
Fear Factory is happening now in downtown Salt Lake City. Grab your family or a group of friends and go see how incredible this attraction is! We highly recommend it! You can learn more about Fear Factory and plan your visit on their website.
