Life passes you by in the blink of an eye, and most of us live it by doing what we need to do. School, work, taking care of the kids, doing what people expect, etc. Sometimes, I believe that we need to just put everything down and focus on ourselves – for self-care, self-love, and to just take care of ourselves in general. Here are 5 hacks that will make your life better. Hopefully, some of these can make your life easier, and your to-do list faster, allowing you to spend time devoted to yourself!
Put your phone down whenever possible
Think about how much time you spend on your phone each day. It’s probably a good amount, right? If you don’t know how much time you spend on your phone, go look at your activity monitor there. It will tell you exactly how much time you have spent on your phone over the course of the day or week, and where that time was spent (Instagram, email, safari, etc.). Why does putting your phone down make your life better? For many reasons. The first reason, and a really important one, is because your phone is, frankly, a waste of time. Sitting on your phone while you are supposed to be working or getting things done around the house is a huge distraction and it’s the #1 thing that leads to being unproductive. When you put your phone down, you can be much more productive. Another reason to put your phone down? Spending quality time with your friends and family is so important and it’s hard to do when you have Instagram in your face. Put your phone down when possible – I promise that you will not regret it.
Get outside first thing in the morning
There’s something special about getting outside first thing in the morning. First of all, the morning sun on your skin and your eyes helps to balance out your circadian rhythm, which will help you improve sleep and lower levels of stress. Second of all, sunlight brings in Vitamin D, which is a vitamin that’s not only very important when it comes to overall health and wellness, but it is also (unfortunately) something that most people are pretty low in. To make up for it, people take Vitamin D supplements, which is great, but even better than that? Go outside and soak up the sun! For me, getting outside helps me de-stress and relax. This is definitely something that I could use each and every morning and throughout the day. I’d say that it’s a hack that will make your life better, for sure!
Store “natural” peanut butter upside down
I know this sounds like such a weird life hack, but have you ever had natural peanut butter? If you have had it before, then you will know that natural peanut butter separates. The oil goes to the top and the peanut butter goes to the bottom. It is a PAIN. But, here is your hack – flip your container over and the peanut butter will go to the bottom and the oil will go to the top, making it much easier to stir up and mix together. Boom!!
Incorporate stretching into your daily routine
We have two more hacks to go and this one is one of my favorites. Incorporating stretching into your daily routine is incredibly useful for a few reasons. Stretching is a great way to loosen your muscles and joints, making it easier to maintain a range of motion in the joints. Without stretching, your muscles shorten and become tight. This is what leads to injury, pain, and much more, making it harder and harder to keep up with daily activities.
Prioritize your strengths and interests, and hire out the rest
Last but not least, a life hack that will truly make your day-to-day life better is by prioritizing your strengths and interests and just hiring out the rest. For example, if you are moving, your expertise might be organizing everything, packing, or decorating your new house, but it might not be physically moving all of your items (especially the heavy ones) over to your new home.
