Christmas time in the Rocky Mountains. Soft white snow has just fallen, Christmas lights are twinkling and you are in a horse-drawn sleigh. Sounds like a Hallmark movie or something, right? Well, that is how I spent last night when I visited Rocky Mountain Outfitters at Jordanelle State Park in Heber City, Utah.
It’s been ages since I spent any time in the winter at night in the mountains. I forget just how amazing it is to be in the snow-covered mountains when the moon is reflecting off of the snow. Such a picturesque scene, one perfectly suited for the movies, but one you and your family can experience in real life. An experience I most definitely recommend!
This month, you can book a special events sleigh ride at Rocky Mountain Outfitters driven by their beautiful Percheron draft horses and take in a light show unlike any other. We loaded up the family and made our way to Jordanelle State Park where we met up with our friendly driver, RJ, and his two majestic horses, Fred and Frieda. We enjoyed a private carriage ride throughout the park, where we were able to experience a beautiful light display, lasers, Christmas music, and a full moon that illuminated our horses in the snow. It was really quite magical and a great way to spend an evening with family. It was a balmy 15 degrees when we went on our ride, but we thoroughly enjoyed it bundled up in our coats and fluffy blankets we brought with us.

This would be a very fun Christmas tradition to begin with your family and an experience you will definitely look back on with great memories.
