Camelback Resort: A Great Family Getaway Year Round

This past week, we had to beat the heat.  Temperatures rising into the triple digits had us wanting an escape, so we headed into the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania to a fabulous family friendly destination called Camelback Resort, where we had been invited* to stay.  Maybe you’ve heard of this incredible getaway, as it’s well known for mountain activities, Camelbeach waterpark, and home of Aquatopia, recently named America’s #1 indoor waterpark by USA Today! Having heard of the resort, but never having the chance to visit before, I was very excited to see for myself just what all the buzz was about.

We pulled up to the scenic lodge mid-day.  If you arrive before your room is ready, you can leave your bags at check-in and start swimming at Aquatopia.  You can also enjoy these amenities and those at Camelbeach after you have checked out of room for the remainder of the day, maximizing your vacation time with your family.  I loved that this was an option!

There are plenty of parking spots on property or you can choose to have the valet take your car for you.  While staying at Camelback Resort, a car is not necessary, as shuttles are available or you can walk, if you are so inclined.

Walking into the spacious foyer, I was impressed.  A large screen TV and seating was to my left, a welcoming fireplace and couches were directly in front of me, and to my right was the check in counter.  The lodge was nicely decorated and accommodating to families.  I could tell we would have everything here that we needed for our stay.

Check-in was easy, the staff friendly and accommodating.  Suggestions were offered on how to help make our stay all the more enjoyable–dinner recommendations and also the ability to link our electronic bracelets that allowed us access to Aquatopia and entry into our hotel room to a credit card, which would enable us to shop from our bracelet, without needing a credit card.  I thought this was a fantastic feature.  No one wants to have to watch their purse and wallet at a waterpark.  I was able to leave all my valuables behind and just enjoy being in the moment with my family without sacrificing being able to eat or shop.

When we checked in, we received an agenda of all the family activities happening at the resort during our stay.  Besides the biggest draw of the waterparks, there were many arts and crafts, movie showings, and more to do.  In addition to these activities, there was also an arcade, fitness center, spa, restaurants, and a couple of retail spots.  There was definitely so much to do!

Sometimes, it can be a challenge to find accommodations that fit a family of six, but Camelback had the perfect room for us.  Their king suite is actually spacious enough to sleep 8!  That’s a huge win for families like mine or for a smaller family that likes to travel with friends or cousins.

Walking into our room, we found a great set up in our suite.  A comfortable king sized bed, sofa bed, desk and a beautiful mountain view.  Off the hallway, a bathroom, kitchen area, and another room housed two bunk beds, perfect for our four boys.

We were very pleased with how comfortable our room was and the convenient location to all the amenities at the resort.  We couldn’t wait to go see what Aquatopia was like!  Check back soon to see what we thought!

*we were invited to visit the resort to facilitate a review, all opinions are my own.
