NYCC 2015!

Last year, I was able to visit New York’s Comic Con for the very first time and it was definitely an eye-opening experience! This year, I was able to go back* and see what was new and fun in the land of pop culture in 2015.

Back to the Future was big on my radar, and apparently, I was not the only one who had that feeling. This year I saw a ton of Back to the Future cosplay.  I can’t believe sitting watching those movies back in the 1980s (I was the biggest fan!!) I would actually be around to see it all displayed at Comic Con and see some of the predictions of the future come to life.  One of the very first panels of the conference was all about Back to the Future.  October 21, 2015 marks the day that Marty McFly visited the future and everyone was prepared to celebrate that occasion.  I heard that Pepsi Perfect made an appearance, but unfortunately, was not able to snag a bottle for myself.

My son is going to be Marty McFly for Halloween, oh how I wish I had a pair of these Air Mag knockoffs to add to his costume!

Going from vendor to vendor is a lot of fun.  While I am not a big gamer or comic connoisseur, I had a blast visiting all the tables and learning about new things.  My husband and I really enjoyed creating profiles for a new game, Roll Four: The Summer Campaign, based on Dungeons and Dragons.  I was a Wizard for my intelligence and charisma (ha ha!) and my husband was a righteous warrior for his super strength and charisma.  We developed our profiles by completing a series of tests and challenges.  It was so much for and the creators of the game were great to chat with along the way.

I loved getting sneak peeks of new toys and hot new video games every turn you made on the floor.

Iron Man

Of course, The Walking Dead is always a hot topic at the convention, so it was fun to see writer Robert Kirkman in person.  Lots of discussion will ensue this weekend while we eagerly await the premiere of the next season on Sunday, October 11th.

Comic Con is a unique experience for every individual that attends and there is literally something for everyone.  I loved getting to see all the cosplay, the enthusiasm and the friendships being made all around. Definitely a super fun experience to have.  Comic Con is sold out this year, but keep a look out for 2016 tickets to go on sale next year so you don’t miss out on your opportunity to go!

*I was invited to attend to NYCC to facilitate a review, all opinions are my own.
